Alight Motion Beta Testing
Yes, there is a beta test program. Anyone is eligible to join the beta tester program.
Are there risks to using beta software?
Beta software has not been as thoroughly tested as production release software, so if you join the beta, you may experience significantly more crashes or other glitches than normal. It goes without saying, but you should not join the beta if you are doing critical work, especially on a deadline.
What is the advantage of beta testing?
As a beta tester, you get early access to new features, and can give us your feedback on them. This means you have a chance to influence the direction of new features through your feedback (production version users can also give feedback, but beta feedback is earlier, when the code is still malleable and when it's easier for us to make changes).
How do I join as a beta tester?
You can join the program any time using this link:
After joining the program, you will need to download the beta as an update in the Google Play Store.
How do I leave the beta program?
You can leave the program any time using the same link, from above:
When you leave the program, you will continue to have the beta version until the next normal production release, at which point you will revert to the production version.
If you wish to revert to the production version before the next normal release, you will need to uninstall Alight Motion and reinstall it after leaving the beta program. Caution: uninstalling and reinstalling will cause your projects to be deleted so you should back them up first.
I signed up—why don't I see a beta update in Google Play?
We don't always have a beta in progress. Especially if we've just released a new version in production, it can take a little while for us to launch the next beta. Keep an eye on our twitter channel (@AlightCreative) or check back periodically in Google Play for the update.
What are "Early" beta testers?
Early beta testers are the first 20,000+ beta testers who helped us stress-test the application before the very first production release. We're super grateful to these early beta testers for helping us catch a lot of serious bugs, and for giving us a LOT of great feedback about the app.
Is there anything special for "Early" beta testers?
YES! Anyone who joined the beta program and signed up for an account (using Google Play or Facebook) before August 5, 2018 is considered an "Early" beta tester and eligible for these benefits:
FREE lifetime access to all premium features in Alight Motion — To take advantage of this offer, simply sign in with an eligible account. Please note that this includes all effects and features currently in the app or that we add in the future, but does not include removing the watermark (but see below), and also does not include any effects and features developed by 3rd parties (such as plugins for Alight Motion sold by other companies or containing other company's intellectual property).
DISCOUNTED PRICE to remove the watermark — Available until September 30, 2018, the discounted price applies to annual subscriptions, and lasts for as long as you maintain your subscription (for lifetime, if you make sure your subscription never lapses). To take advantage of this offer, sign in with an eligible count, and subscribe any time before September 30, 2018.
You can check your membership status by tapping the icon on the project list screen and tapping My Account to view your account status. You should see a message like this:
If you have not purchased an option to remove the watermark, that is available through the membership upgrades button. If you have already subscribed, you will the subscription information on this page.
I'm an iPhone User—will I get a chance to participate in an Early Beta program?
We do plan to have an early beta program for iPhone in early 2019. However, due to the way beta testing works on iPhone, the number of beta testers will be much more limited. We'll be providing a survey in early 2019 to help us select iPhone beta testers. We will share details on our Twitter account, @AlightCreative, when it's ready. iPhone early beta testers will also be eligible for a discounted subscription and free premium features.
